For my training to become a licensed instructor for children and young adults in general sports I had to plan a project. I decided to give the children from the NC training group of VSC Klingenthal the possibility to work with professional athletes. So I organised a bilingual training session with the Finnish NC team on 19th February 2015 right before the COC competitions.
Project goals:
promotion and encouragement of international communication and friendship in winter sports
getting to know another culture
letting the sport be the means of communication between athletes with different mother tongues
inclusion of athletes with foreign nationalities / mother tongues in training sessions
After two short introduction excercises and some stretching as a warm-up, the children worked in different groups, each led by a Finnish athlete. Coach Antti Kuisma, Severi Taipale and Eero Hirvonen practised the inrun position, take-off movements and flight position simulation. Atte Korhonen did jumping excercises and sprints with his group while Matti Herola practiced balancing with the youngest kids. In the end, we had lots of fun doing the "Gordic Knot" as a cool-down.
