Mikko, how did you get involved with Nordic Combined? Do you have any favourite athletes or role models?
I think I started NC when I started jumping. I skied since I learned how to walk. I started skijumping when I was 7. And no, I don't have any favourite athletes. Of course when I was young there were Janne Ahonen and Hannu Manninen and I always watched them on TV.
You've reached a 3rd and 4th place at the Youth Cup in Harrachov (CZE) and of course the bronze medal at the Junior Worlds in Rasnov. Are you satisfied with how this winter went for you?
Yeah, this winter has been pretty good for me I think... but not perfect. There were some bad races. There also were the Youth Olympic Games and I didn't make it there although I really wanted to. But the Junior Worlds Championships were pretty good. In the Individual races, my jumping was not so good but I was kind of lucky to get a good jump in the Team competiton. And skiing was good.
What are your goals for the future?
Of course my goal for the next season are the Junior Worlds and then also Continental Cup. And a World Cup premiere? Maybe I can get on the team in Ruka or Lahti...
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time in the summer I go fishing or hunting. And sometimes I play icehockey, watch Netflix and hang out with my friends.
