Please tell something about yourself! What kind of person are you?
Jari: I´m sportloving guy who likes good food and loud motorbikes!
What are your hobbies that you like to do in your free time?
Jari: One of my special hobby is scuba diving. I do it occasionally in Finland, but mainly on my holidays to tropical waters in South East Asia.
Why did you become a physiotherapist?
Jari: I don´t have any special reason why I became a physiotherapist, that sounded very good choice for guy who likes sport. And now, I luckily work with sport for my living.
When and why did you join the Nordic Combined team?
Jari: I joined finnish nordic combined team in summer 2003. They needed a fysio who can also test the skis. I already knew Antti Kuisma and he asked if I could consider that job. I went to an interview and got it. And now I just started my 16th world cup season with the team.
What are your tasks in the team in general and on competition days in particular?
Jari: During the summer time I´m fysio and assistant coach. That means I´m in charge of fysio training and I take part of every training sessions in training camps. I follow the training sessions with ”fysio eye” and share my view with other team coaches. Competition days (in winter) I´m also helping our waxing team testing the skis and waxes.
What do you like most about your job?
Jari: I like the challenge of top sport, working under pressure. And luckily I have had chance to work with exellent co-workers.
What was your biggest success / best moment with the team? Is there anything that sticks out?
Jari: I have many good moments with the team from the old and present days. Of course Sapporo 2007 world champs with all medals and team victory are my best memories. And nowadays the team itself is amazing energy booster.
What do you think about the athletes' development during the past years and where do you see the team in the future?
Jari: Maybe the most important thing for whole team is that we are back in business! We have created together the new coming of finnish nordic combined. We are not in there yet, but we are on the good way!
