FNCA: Please tell us your thoughts about this year's SGP!
Leevi: Hmm... the jumping part was quite hard. On the cross-country part it went really good but it's hard to start from over 40th position. With that it's maybe impossible to have good results so I wanted to jump better for the winter.
FNCA: Have you already found out what was wrong with the jumping?
Leevi: Oh yeah, yeah... right now it's not so far from getting a good mode but I think I will need the break around Christmas to figure it out completely.
FNCA: You were 4th at the latest team event in Lillehammer - please tell us how you feel about it!
Leevi: Actually I wasn't so happy with my jumping and skiing but speaking for the whole team we were really happy! Now we know that we can make it and jump really good and our cross-country part is also going really good. We are young but it was the day when everybody jumped quite good, pretty normally. Normally - that's enough. That was really good!
FNCA: And do you think that there can also be a good position in the WSC team event?
Leevi: Yeah of course, now I can really believe that we can get a medal in Lahti!
FNCA: Last but not least – are you doing anything besides the sport, like e.g. studying?
Leevi: Yes, I've signed up for university but haven't started yet. At the moment I'm only concentrating on the sport.
FNCA: Ok, so which subject did you choose?
Leevi: If I continue then I will become a mathematics teacher... but let's see! [laughs]
FNCA: Your ski jumping went much better this weekend than at the start of the season - what's the reason for it?
Leevi: Reasons for my better jumping were many trainings during the Christmas break with my personal coach Kari Jääskeläinen. We changed the balance of skis and found right one for my jumping technique. Kari's "double jump" training helped me to weaken up the power for the legs. So that training break was really good for me!
FNCA: After those jumps - what was your goal for the races and what did the skiing and results feel like?
Leevi: I wanted to keep my own good focus on track. Starts from the top 10 helped me to start skiing parts modestly. The races before Christmas I had to start with over speed because I started from waves where everybody started fast as usually to get points. There were right groups for my speed on the top were I had a chance to save power for last kilometres. Sometimes I felt difficult but it's normal in every race.
FNCA: What are your plans for the upcoming weeks, travelling around in the World Cup?!
Leevi: My plan is next two weekends in world cup and if I still have good results and I feel good from there I would like to take part in Seefeld's triple weekend also.
FNCA: You already told before Christmas you believe that the Finnish athletes are strong enough to get a team medal at the World Champs. Do you also have personal goals for the individual competitions?
Leevi: The first goal for me is that I will compete in World Championships. The 2nd goal is top 15 in individual competition.
